Building Better Child Care

Caregivers in licensed child care facilities in Missouri are required to receive 12 clock hours of training approved by the Department of Health and Senior Service yearly.  The Taney County University of Missouri Extension center will be offering four sessions to help our area child care providers reach this goal.  We will be offering a monthly three hour session for the next 4 months starting in August.  Registration is $15 per session which will include handouts and refreshments.  Classes will be held in the Community room of the White River Valley Electric Cooperative building located at 2449 East State Highway 76 in Branson and will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Classes will be facilitated by Dr. Jim Wirth, retired University of Missouri Human Development specialist. All session have been registered with Child Care Aware of Missouri.

  • Thursday, September 12, 2019 - Happiness, the Good Life, and Living Life Fully: What Psychology and Philosophy Teach Us

  • Thursday, November 14, 2019 - Problem Solving with Children and Dealing with Anger: The Children's and Yours

Master Gardener Training Offered

University of Missouri Extension is offering Master Gardener training courses in Branson and Ozark this summer.  The intensive multi-week Master Gardener course consists of ten three-hour classes on specific Tuesday and Thursday afternoons in Branson and evenings in Ozark.  The classes will all occur from August 15 to September 26.  Participants have their choice in classes; 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Branson or 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Ozark.  There is a course fee which covers 30 hours of instruction and many resource materials including the 'Missouri Master Gardener Core Manuel'.  Interested persons are encouraged to attend a no-obligation orientation to learn more about the master gardener program scheduled for Tuesday, August 13th.  Orientation will be offered at 1:00 p.m. at the Branson United Methodist Church, 1208 W. 76 Country Blvd in Branson and at 6:00 p.m. at the Ozark Technical College , Room 22 one mile west of Highway 65 on Highway 14 in Ozark.

Brown Bag Lunch Gardening Series 2019

Master Gardeners of the Ozarks will present their monthly gardening workshops again this year, in the demonstration gardens located at the Taney County MU Extension center at 122 Felkins Avenue in Forsyth.  Programs are held on the third Tuesday of each month at noon starting Tuesday, April 16, 2019 through October.  Classes are free and open to the public as part of community education offered by the Master Gardeners.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 15 - Seed Saving - Maggie Shanks, Master Gardener

So pack you lunch and join us in our garden setting for these casual, informative programs.  In case of inclement weather programs are often moved to the basement of the Forsyth Community Presbyterian Church at 271 Main Street.
