Approved for 6 continuing educational hours by the Missouri Real Estate Commission and the Missouri Association for Real Estate Appraisers, this program is designed to provide professionals working in the real estate with an overview of environmental regulations involving the transfer of real property, building site selection using a county's soil map, private drinking water standards, on-site sewage treatment, and other environmental issues.

    Program is a unique opportunity designed to expand the community's knowledge and skills of the world's newest electronic frontier. . . the Internet. The program provides volunteers with a 30-hour training course on how to access, search, retrieve and post Internet information.

  • VTI Connectivity Technology (Con.Tech!) Group
    A group of community leaders meeting to discuss how to enhance efforts to improve Saline County's communication infrastructure (including the use fiber optic cable) and to increase awareness of differnet Internet communications technolgies available for the high speed transfer of voice, data and video information.

    This group of leaders meets the second Friday of each month at the Saline County Extension Office.

  • Beginning Internet
    The Internet offers many new and exciting promises for communication to citizens living in rural Missouri, that is if they can successfully navigate in cyberspace. Drawing from resources that include the Internet Master Program, the course is designed to help citizens to lean more about the basic functions of E-mail (setting up an E-mail account, sending and receiving messages, saving messages in folders, attaching files to messages, e-mail etiquette, and setting up signatures and other e-mail preferences) and using Web Browser software more effectively for finding information on the "web." This included instruction on different ways to navigate with your browser, common and advanced searching, differences between search engines, safe downloading and virus protection, evaluating the source, browser preferences, and an introduction to the coding that makes a web page possible.

  • Beginning WebPage Development
    An eight-hour class on Basic WebPages including instruction on webpage layout, different design options, html coding (version 4.0), and file transfer protocol for uploading webpages to a server. During the course of the class, participates used the knowledge gained to develop basic practice webpages.

    A three hour course designed to provide new Internet users with a basic overview of what the Internet is and how it can be used to find local information.  Topics covered in the course include:

    Equipment needed for Internet connection

Responsibility for the environment is a top-of-mind issue for all pork producers. Through the Environmental Assurance Program (EAP), participants will:

  • Evaluate their current environmental practices
  • Learn the fundamentals of environmental stewardship
  • Review current regulations
  • Conduct a comprehensive self-assessment to develop an action plan for the future.

If you are already certified in EAP, or require more advanced environmental education, the National Pork Producers Council has developed five new advanced EAP modules. These modules include:

  • Mortality Composting
  • Community Relations
  • Odor Reduction
  • Manure Treatment and Storage Alternatives
  • & Pollution Prevention Strategies

University of Missouri Extension , NRCS, and other resource agencies sponsor EAP workshops. The EAP materials are also available for individual study from the Missouri Pork Producers Association.  Participants receive a certificate of completion following each module.
