Occasional Enrollment in Credit Courses
With approval of the Regional Director, MU Extension field faculty may enroll at any time in a credit course (including independent study) applicable to job competency when the course work will not interfere with full performance of job responsibilities. This occasional enrollment in credit courses will not affect eligibility to participate in semester or other study plans.Attendance at Professional/Society Meetings,
Seminars or Conferences
MU Extension will support participation in regional and national professional meetings as follows:
Official leave may be granted for MU Extension professional faculty to attend one meeting each fiscal year.
The amount of official leave allowable for a meeting is the number of days of the meeting and one days travel time before and after.
Reimbursement will be provided for reasonable and necessary expenses within University travel regulations. In any one year, the maximum reimbursement will be $600. In a two year period the maximum reimbursement will be $1,000.00.
The application (form UM-112) must be submitted to the Regional Director at least three months before the beginning date of the meeting. The Regional Director will submit the application form to the Professional Development Office for approval.
Professional and/or society meetings may include but are not limited to:
Professional association meetings related to the UO/E function.

- National Association of Extension 4-H Youth Workers
- National Association of Extension Home Economists
- American Association of Adult and Continuing Education
- Professional and/or society meetings related to ones academic discipline.

- American Society of Agronomy
- American Home Economics Association
- American Society of Animal Science
- Community Development Society
- American Association of Adult and Continuing Education
Funds may be used for a workshop, seminar, or other professional development.
The continuation of funding described in this policy is dependent upon the availability of travel and faculty development funds.

Organizational Dues and Memberships
University funds may be used to pay for institutional memberships in organizations that provide educational or professional service of value to the institution or to one or more of its component parts.
Payment should be budgeted and paid by the appropriate division or unit.
University funds may not be used to pay individual personal membership dues in professional societies or associations, nor in social, service, or civic clubs.
This does not preclude the use of funds from gifts or grants specifically designated for the purpose of personal memberships.
