Master Gardeners of
Greater Kansas City
Mission Statement
The mission of the Master
Gardeners
of Greater Kansas City is horticultural
education.
The primary purpose of the University Extension is to serve Missouri by
reaching out and extending research-based knowledge and problem-solving resources of the
University of Missouri system to people throughout the state.
The Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City program is an informal, but
important liaison between the University of Missouri Extension and the
general public, by helping to implement Extension services. In the
metropolitan Kansas City area the University Extension includes a large and
diverse urban, suburban, and rural area that encompasses the four Missouri counties of Jackson,
Cass, Clay, and Platte.
The Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City provide the metropolitan Kansas City area with
information, suggested solutions to current or anticipated problems, demonstrations and
programs designed to educate the general public about gardening topics. We are
especially interested in encouraging environmentally sound, responsible and reliable
information to the public based on research and approved practices.
The Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City Program is conducted
by Master Gardeners working under the Steering Committees' leadership and with the support
and direction of the West Central Region Horticulture Specialist, Lala Kumar
kumarl@missouri.edu. You can also contact Molly
Fusselman, Horticulture Educator at the extension office or contact her by e-mail at
fusselmanm@missouri.edu
The Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City is one of many Master Gardener groups in
the state of Missouri. All of the Master Gardeners are coordinated by the State Master Gardeners at the University
of Missouri campus.
