Donor education and development

Advancing the mission of MU Extension
Development for the next 100 years

Extension’s distinct land-grant mission is to improve lives, communities and economies by producing relevant, reliable and responsive educational strategies that enhance access to the resources and research of the University of Missouri.

Along with the opportunities to offer significant programs to improve the lives of Missourians comes the challenge of developing a more adequate resource base to support this work. Diversifying income streams is crucial to the next 100 years of University of Missouri Extension’s success.

Dollars from federal, state and county governments continue to support our efforts. Fee generation enables us to sustain essential programs. Grants and contracts move our mission forward. And gifts and endowments provide crucial funding for meeting short- and long-term goals.

The goal of Donor Education and Development is to enhance gifts and endowment funds and ensure that these two streams of income contribute greatly to MU Extension’s next 100 years of success. The related pages help council members, faculty and staff understand the language, mechanics and importance of development.
