Community Garden

Interested to garden at the Salem Community Garden?  Or have a home garden but want to learn more about gardening?

The Salem Community Garden is a place for Dent County residents to grow healthy food for their own families, friends or to donate to locale churches or organizations.

How to sign up for a plot: Register for a garden plot at no cost by calling Dent County Extension at 573-729-3196,  Gardeners are required to sign an agreement to follow the garden by-laws and maintain their garden plot through the season.

Garden plots are 4 feet by 15 feet.  Garden tools are available for the shared use of the community gardens, and often seeds, compost and other garden materials are available for free or reduced cost to participants. Fifty garden plots are available and registration is a first-come, first-served basis.

Come Learn About Gardening!  Workshops and "how to" sessions on a variety of gardening practices to increase productivity and beauty of any home or market garden will be presented throughout the season.  Add you name to our garden email list to get regular program notices, or watch for updates on upcoming events here, on this Dent County Extension website or Salem Community Garden Facebook page.

The Salem Community Garden began in 2009 and is a cooperative effort o fthe University of Missouri Extension, Salem United Methodist Church, local organizations, and citizens.  Donations of tools, seeds or other gardening resources are appreciated, and are tax-exempt. The garden is located behind the Salem United Methodist Church at 801 E. Highway 32.
