2018 Saline County Drought Management Meeting for Beef Cattle or Pasture Producers

Description:

Topics to be discussed include: Livestock Forage Drought Assistance Program from FSA Office, Pasture management, alternate forage options, nitrate toxicity and culling decisions. Participants can bring their forage sample at the meeting to test nitrate. Extension Agronomist and Livestock Specialist will test nitrate on forage at the meeting. Anita Elson from Saline county Farm Service Agency will talk on Livestock Forage Program (LFP). State Beef Nutrition Specialist Dr. Eric Bailey from University of Missouri will talk about Efficient beef cattle feeding. MU Extension Livestock Specialist Heather Conrow will talk about culling decision and nitrate toxicity. MU extension Agronomy Specialist Dhruba Dhakal will talk about Pasture management and alternative forage options.
