Class meets every Monday evening for 11 weeks. Provides in depth horticulture training for Missourians who wish to spread their knowledge of gardening. Prepares volunteers for horticulture questions frequently asked by citizens around the state, based on unbiased research based gardening information.

    Session topic:

Soil Basics – Soils forms through a complex interaction of many factors. These processes can be grouped into the five soil forming factors: parent material, climate, biota, topography and time. These factors have affected your area and can impact landscaping and garden plans. Using Pesticides Safely – Pesticides can control insects, weeds and diseases in the home garden. However, they can also be harmful to humans if used inappropriately. Learn how to read a label, use safe practices while handling these chemicals as well as appropriate storage of pesticides.

Registration fee includes all materials. Within 1 year after completion of the course and 30 hours as a volunteer to the community, a $50 reimbursement can be received. For additional information, call 636-797-5391 or
