A Matter of Balance (Session 4 of 8)

Diabetes Self-Management Program - Hannibal (Session 3 of 6)

Description:

This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book.

Session topic:

In this third session, participants will be able to name regular tests to prevent or delay diabetes complications. Also participants will learn ways to reduce fat in their meals and increase their physical activity.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Waynesville (Session 3 of 16)

A strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The programs goal is to improve health and quality of life. Exercise sessions to improve strength and balance include warm-up exercises, strengthening exercises and cool-down stretches.

Cooking Matters is a program provided by Share Our Strength, a nationwide initiative to end hunger in America. In this program, participants will learn how to buy and prepare budget friendly and healthy meals. Each week participants get to take home the ingredients from one of the recipes made in class. A lot of basic cooking skills are covered in this program. It's a great opportunity for anyone trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Franklin County 4-H Council

The Franklin County 4-H Council is made up of representatives of all county 4-H Clubs.  The 4-H Council is responsible for planning and coordinating all countywide 4-H programs, and for setting county 4-H rules and guidelines.  The County 4-H Council also raises and manages county 4-H funds to provide educational opportunities for 4-H members, volunteers, and their families.  The 4-H Council meets five times each year on the fourth Monday of the month.  All are welcome to attend, but only club representatives may vote on 4-H Council business.
