A Matter of Balance (Session 3 of 8)

Diabetes Self-Management Program - Hannibal (Session 2 of 6)

Description:

This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book.

Session topic:

In this second session, participants will be introduced to problem solving techniques, a formula for healthy eating, healthy menus and identify the causes of low blood sugar.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Waynesville (Session 1 of 16)

Description:

A strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The programs goal is to improve health and quality of life. Exercise sessions to improve strength and balance include warm-up exercises, strengthening exercises and cool-down stretches.

8 week class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Waynesville Senior Center in Waynesville, MO Register with the MU Extension Center in Pulaski County at 573-774-6177. Preregister is required and a physician's release for those age 69 and over.
