Missouri Master Beekeeper - Begining Beekeeper: "Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping"

When:  Friday, March 10, 2017, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Description:

The Missouri Master Beekeeper Program (MBP) is a training and certification program provided by University of Missouri Extension. The program begins with a Beginning Beekeeper for people who are just getting started and advances through five additional levels. All participants must enter the program at the Beginning Beekeeper level, but experienced beekeepers are permitted to skip levels by passing written and practical examinations and serving as a mentor to less experienced beekeepers. There is no age limit for entry into the program, though the examinations may be too difficult for children under 12 years of age. “Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping” will focus on the principles of beekeeping. Those principles include the history of beekeeping, honeybee biology, plant and pollinator relationship, and essential equipment and requirements. more...

MoTax Initiative - Camdenton (Session 6 of 15)

MoTax offers a gateway to financial education through taxpayer assistance. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program provides free tax assistance (preparation of federal and state tax returns) to low income, disabled, homebound and English as a second language taxpayers. Some VITA sites provide assistance only to those taxpayers who are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy at RCF in El Dorado (Session 10 of 16)

Description:

Missouri’s SSSH program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured and effective strength training program. Over 8 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. During each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health.

Community Conversations (Session 3 of 3)

University of Missouri Extension is hosting multiple “community conversations” to collect the insights and opinions of Missourians about needed and meaningful, educational programs. The input at these meetings will be used to help chart the future direction of MU Extension programs. “We want to know what residents of southwest Missouri see as the major challenges and issues facing individuals, families, businesses and communities across our state,” said Jay Chism, Southwest Region director, University of Missouri Extension. Attend the community conversation closest to you: March 1, 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Civic Center in West Plains; March 7, 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Civic Center in Neosho; or March 10, 7:30 to 11 a.m. at the Community Center in Ozark. MU Extension will provide breakfast at each location.
