Farm to school enriches the connection communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices at schools and early care and education sites. Diabetes Self-management program- Miller county (Session 6 of 6)

Description:

This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 Shelby County Senior Center (Session 10 of 17)

Description:

Missouri’s SSSH program is designed to increase aging adults’ access to a safe, structured and effective strength training program. Over 8 weeks, participants learn exercises to improve their strength, flexibility and balance. During each session, a prescribed set of 8 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and gradually build the strength beneficial to health. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is adapted from the Strong Women Program, A National Fitness Program for Women, John Hancock Center for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, 2008 Tufts University, Boston Massachusetts.

Start your business planning, or ramp up your game plan, with this three-hour class on Basics of Writing a Business Plan. Designed for current and aspiring business owners, this class is perfect for entrepreneurs who need to create a business plan, but have little or no knowledge of how to get started. Learn the key elements of a basic plan and how it can be a useful management tool. 
Participants will get tips and guidelines on writing styles and formats that produce polished, professional plans. Business counselors will facilitate class discussions to help participants consider individual situations, opportunities and additional valuable resources. Discussions are facilitated by business counselors who will help you ex-amine your individual situation, explore opportunities and discover new ideas. You’ll learn from other participants and have a host of valuable resources available to you.

Are you a crafter, an artist or a collector? Would you like to learn more about Etsy's online e-commerce platform and have the opportunity to earn additional income while doing the things you love? The Etsy Craft Entrepreneurship program is an immersive 5-lesson curriculum that provides creative entrepreneurs with the knowledge and skills to start an Etsy business and earn supplemental income through their craft. The training covers becoming an entrepreneur on Etsy, building a craft brand and getting found in search, business logistics, photography techniques, and strategies for growth. The classes are taught by a seasoned, local Etsy seller and students are able to set up their own Etsy microbusiness.
