A Food Policy Council is a group of organizations and committed individuals who work collaboratively to improve the local food system to provide better access to healthy foods in a community. As Vice Chair of the Joplin Food Action Network, I meet with other board members once a month to plan our monthly meeting and other JFAN events. JFAN itself meets once a month with health professionals, food pantry managers, farmers markets, and other community members to discuss what's been happening and where the council needs to be going.
