2017 Master Gardener Level I (Session 1 of 12)

The Master Gardener program provides in depth horticultural training to individuals throughout Missouri who then volunteer their time applying what they have learned to help others in their communities to learn about gardening and environmental education. To become trained as a Master Gardener, an individual must attend a 30 hour classroom Core Course training. Then the Master Gardener trainee is required to give 30 hours of volunteer service back to their community in approved University of Missouri Extension activities.
Potting Shed University (Session 4 of 7)

The 2017 Potting Shed University is a series of 7 classes hosted by the Master Gardeners of Greene County that cover a variety of gardening related topics. All classes are from 6-7 pm and are designed to be fun, laid-back and educational. Diabetes Self-Management Program - Hannibal (Session 4 of 6)

This course is designed to help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book.
In this fourth session, participants will discuss ways of managing anger, fear and frustration; read and understand food labels; and practice guided imagery as a stress management technique.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Pulaski County (Session 5 of 16)
When: Monday, April 3, 2017, 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.
A strength training program for middle-aged and older adults. The programs goal is to improve health and quality of life. Exercise sessions to improve strength and balance include warm-up exercises, strengthening exercises and cool-down stretches.
8 week class meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Waynesville Senior Center in Waynesville, MO Register with the MU Extension Center in Pulaski County at 573-774-6177. Preregister is required and a physician's release for those age 69 and over.

Cooking Matters for Adults (Session 2 of 6)

Cooking Matters is a program provided by Share Our Strength, a nationwide initiative to end hunger in America. In this program, participants will learn how to buy and prepare budget friendly and healthy meals. Topics include kitchen and food safety, label reading, comparing unit prices, and eating from all 5 food groups. Each week participants get to take home the ingredients from one of the recipes made in class.
A lot of basic cooking skills are covered in this program. It's a great opportunity for anyone trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.
