    Pollinators — such as bees, birds, butterflies, bats and insects — play a crucial role in the production of most fruits and vegetables. They also support healthy ecosystems that clean the air, stabilize soils and support wildlife.

    Master Gardener - Perry County Master Gardener Training Spring 2019 (Session 1 of 10)

    Description:

    The University of Missouri Extension’s Master Gardener program is an opportunity for people of all ages to receive in-depth horticulture training and then apply what they have learned to improve lives in their communities and educate others about gardening. Training includes 30 hours of instruction by horticulture instructors as well as many guides and handouts:
    Topics include plant growth and development, soils and fertility, vegetable gardening, home fruit production, insect and disease control, annual and perennial flowers, basic landscaping concepts, and lawncare and weeds.
    After completing Master Gardener training, Master Gardeners volunteer 30 hours to educate others on gardening topics and research–based horticulture information. Volunteer activities may include work in clinics in the community, helping local residents diagnose plant and insect problems write articles for newsletters and newspapers, exhibits at home and garden shows and fairs, organize community gardening projects, develop youth gardening programs, teach gardening classes, conduct home horticulture research, and assist in senior gardening programs

    The registration fee for Master Gardener training is $165. The registration fee includes a state program fee, core manual book, nametag and training supplies. Deadline for registration is April 23, 2019. A minimum of 10 participants is required to hold the class. If this minimum is not met, refunds will be issued.
