Living a Healthy Life with Diabetes in Warsaw (Session 6 of 6)

This course is designed for help people who have diabetes or individuals who care for someone who has diabetes to become better self-managers of their condition. This program will consist of six sessions each lasting 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Participants will learn to plan healthful meals with balanced carbohydrates, learn more about the benefits of physical activity, discuss blood sugar highs and lows, and how to communicate more effectively with health professionals. Participants will receive a free book and weekly prizes!
Today will include discussions on strategies for sick days, foot care, working with your health care professionals, and planning for the future.

Master Gardener Training Level 1 - Phelps County (Session 7 of 13)

The Master Gardener program serves as a valuable and reliable source of horticultural and environmental information and expert volunteer service in Missouri. Learn from University professors, industry professionals and other experts on a variety of horticulture topics. A love of gardening and a desire to learn are the only qualifications for entering the Master Gardener program. Master Gardeners complete 30 hours of volunteer service following their initial training. Subsequent years require 20 hours of volunteer service. Enrollment is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis

Cooking Matters is a program provided by Share Our Strength, a nationwide initiative to end hunger in America. In this program, participants will learn how to buy and prepare budget friendly and healthy meals. Topics include kitchen and food safety, label reading, comparing unit prices, and eating from all 5 food groups. Each week participants get to take home the ingredients from one of the recipes made in class.
A lot of basic cooking skills are covered in this program. It's a great opportunity for anyone trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.

The Stay Strong, Stay Healthy Program is an evidence-based strength training program designed to meet the fitness needs of older adults and middle age sedentary adults. It is an eight-week program, where participants are guided through a strength training routine two times per week.
The event will be held in the Kempton Room at the Fred E. Davis Multi-Purpose Center at State Fair Community College in Sedalia, MO. Class will be from 9:15-10:15 a.m.
Participants will complete a warm-up, 8 strength training exercises, and a cool-down.

Taking Care of You: Body, Mind, Spirit is a four session community-based group program that meets 1.5-2 hours per week. The program is designed for adults of any age who are interested in learning techniques from the field of positive psychology to help them manage stress and focus on taking care of themselves.

Clover Kids - a club meeting for 4-H members ages 5-7. Activities and snacks are provided at each meeting. Activities are science based, open ended and hands-on, requiring critical thinking, exploration and creativity. Attendees must be enrolled as a 4-H Clover Kid in Polk County.
Through Clover Kids clubs, children learn how to get along, share, and work in groups, explore their interests, and build self-confidence. Clover Kid Activities introduce five to seven-year olds to the 4-H concept of learning by doing.

Life is full of choices...and those choices affect the body, mind and spirit. The Taking Care of YOU- Inside and Out program is designed to help you deal with life's stress, make wise choices and explore ways to live a healthier life.
During this 12-week program you will learn practical strategies to help you deal with the stress in your life and to take better care of yourself and your overall health. Each week you will explore topics through small group discussion, self-reflection and activities. Attendance prizes and resources will be given each week, plus 2 weeks on a grocery store tour and an interactive Cooking Class.
This program is for St. Louis County Government employees
