Missouri Master Naturalist (Session 8 of 19)

Description:

Help protect the natural resources of Camden, Miller, Morgan and surrounding counties by becoming a Missouri Master Naturalist. The Missouri Master Naturalist program is a community-based, adult natural resource education and volunteer program designed to engage Missourians in the stewardship of our state's natural resources. Registration has begun for the Lake of the Ozarks Master Naturalist certification training course. An orientation session will be held January 17 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Mo. Dept of Conservation Office, Thunder Mountain Road, Camdenton, MO. Closing date for the spring training registration is January 31st and class size is limited. Training sessions will be held at the Mo. Dept of Conservation office, Thunder Mountain Road, Camdenton, MO. from 6-9 pm on Wednesdays beginning February 28th and ending May 23th. Three Saturday field trips are included. The 50-hour course will teach you about Missouri's natural resource ecology and management. After graduation, participants are asked to provide 40 hours of volunteer service on land management, citizen science, education, and other conservation related projects in the local community and participate in eight hours of advanced training opportunities. Crazy Busy Leaders Study (Session 5 of 7)

Description:

EXCEL is a community leadership program designed to reach members of the community who are not yet fully engaged as community leaders or volunteers but want to develop their community leadership potential.

Our Crazy Busy Leaders study is a small group discussion open to selected members of the EXCEL leadership program who have expressed an interest in improving themselves in regard to schedules and priorities.

Session topic:

Group study of the book "Crazy Busy" with an emphasis on setting priorities and creating a "stop doing" list to enable leaders to seek innovation and reduce the craziness of schedules which actually reduces our ability to lead effectively.

Youth Farm Animal Art Show

MU Extension 4-H youth development faculty and staff collaborate with partners to address youth and family issues in the community. Rather than providing programs or services directly to an individual young person, the focus is upon influencing systems — people, programs, policies and services that impact the lives of young people and their families.
Youth Farm Animal Art Show is a celabration of Stoddard Counties rich farming history. It is an event for youth grades K-12. The exhibit is located in the Stoddard County Historic Courthouse.

The actions we take to manage our home landscapes can have huge impacts on our rivers and streams. Learn what steps you can take as a homeowner to help protect our precious aquatic resources and be part of the solution!. This workshop will offer a variety of topics that can help us manage our home landscapes in an environmentally friendly way; including information on healthy soils, basic lawn care, basic tree care, vegetable gardening, sustainable landscaping, and more. 2019 Grow Your Farm (Session 8 of 8)

Information on production techniques is relatively easy to find and use, but what many landowners need is help to develop the farm as a profitable business. With this in mind, Grow Your Farm is designed to assist you, the producer, in creating and planning your farm as a business.

This course will help you:

Identify and prioritize personal and family values and use them as the foundation for the farm mission statement and goals.
Learn how to "walk the farm" to assess the land and its facilities.
Learn to evaluate the feasibility of particular farm opportunities.
Understand the components of a business plan and create one of your own.
Understand financial aspects of a business plan and review popular tools to manage financial records.
Consider different types of agricultural marketing and draft a marketing plan.
Become familiar with a variety of legal issues that pertain to farming enterprises.
Network with other farmers.

Beef Cattle Artificial Insemination School
