Stay Strong Stay Healthy Level 2 (Session 3 of 19)

Description:

Missouri’s Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. In order to enroll in the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy–Level 2 program, you must have completed the Stay Strong, Stay Healthy-Level 1 program at least twice. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health. All equipment is provided.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 (Session 3 of 19)

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an eight-week, evidence based strength training program designed for older adults who want to improve their quality of life and stay active. The exercises are easy to learn, safe, and effective. You will gradually increase your strength, endurance, and improve your balance.

Understanding the ABCs of USDA Programs

Description:

Free January 24th workshop to help beginning farmers and ranchers, including military veterans, learn about resources offered by state and federal agencies. University of Missouri Extension sponsors the workshop. MU Extension, through a grant from the USDA Office of Advocacy and Outreach to help military veterans and socially disadvantaged persons who want to farm, offers the program to increase agribusinesses and enterprise development. “Understanding the ABCs of USDA” workshop for beginning farmers and ranchers will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. January 24th at the Eldon Community Center, 309 East 2nd St. Eldon, MO, said Patricia Barrett, MU Extension Ag business specialist. A session designed for military veterans will be held from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Representatives of Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Rural Development, MU Extension, and Missouri AgrAbility Project will provide information on how to access their agency’s services.
