MU Extension offers congratulations for an anniversary, condolences for lost friends and best wishes for retirement.

Congratulations

C.W. Browning, an MU Extension retiree, and his wife Betty celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Dec. 24. During C.W.’s 30 years in extension, he and Betty have lived in Chillicothe, Columbia and Warrensburg. Well-wishers can still send cards of congratulations to the Brownings at 10 NW OO Highway, Warrensburg, MO 64093. Betty and C.W. Browning wish to thank those who have already sent congratulations and best wishes. The kindness was much appreciated.

Condolences

William L. (Bill) Buehler, 80, died Nov. 18 at his home in Versailles. Bill was a 40-year veteran of MU Extension and had retired from his Morgan County farm management specialist post in 2000. Services were held Nov. 22 in Versailles. 

Gene Haenni, 74, died Nov. 18 in Cape Girardeau. Gene served as a 4-H youth specialist based in Cape Girardeau County until his retirement in 1994.

Dean Fitzgerald, 85, died Nov. 26 in Columbia. Dean was a longtime director of personnel for MU Extension, retiring in 1993. Services were held Dec. 2. 

Former Northwest Region business development program specialist Darrell Meeker, 62, died Jan. 8 in St. Joseph. Services were held Jan. 11. 

Bonnie Turner died Jan.16. She was the wife of Elbert Turner, former Northwest Region director. Services were held Jan. 20 in St. Joseph.

Marguerite Young, 88, wife of MU Extension retiree Vilas Young, died Jan. 25 in Maryville. Services were held Jan. 29. 

Retirements

Barbara Jean Eavy, Urban Region community development specialist based in Jefferson County, retired Nov. 27.

Diana Hammond, programmer/analyst-expert, OSEDA.

Mary Jo Williams, state 4-H youth specialist.

James Wrather, professor, Plant Sciences.
